La Oficina de la UNESCO en Montevideo se estableció en 1949, poco después del nacimiento de la Organización a nivel mundial. Su acción se revela a través de un gran número de proyectos en las áreas de educación, ciencias naturales, ciencias sociales, cultura y comunicación e información, que involucran a gobiernos, organizaciones sociales y a la ciudadanía de 33 países y 4 Miembros Asociados de América Latina y el Caribe.
El Laboratorio de Políticas Públicas en Ciencia y Tecnología busca generar un espacio regional para la elaboración de propuestas de mejora de los programas y proyectos gubernamentales de promoción científica y tecnológica para alcanzar los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de la Agenda 2030, integrando y fortaleciendo al mismo tiempo los ámbitos de formación profesional, investigación y gestión pública. Luego de 4 ediciones realizadas entre 2021 y 2022, el Laboratorio expandirá su alcance en 2023, apuntando a trabajar con 10 gobiernos. Para ello, la Oficina de Montevideo de la UNESCO busca una/un profesional que fortalezca el equipo coordinador.
