Senior Legal Specialist
Purpose of the role
We are looking for a proactive, business-minded Senior In-House Counsel to join our Legal team in Mexico City, reporting directly to the Head of Legal, Mexico+ Cluster.
This is a key position for a lawyer who combines solid legal expertise with curiosity, agility, and the drive to make things happen. You will partner closely with multiple business functions, providing practical, timely, and strategic advice that enables growth while managing legal and regulatory risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Business partnership: Provide clear, business-oriented legal advice across marketing, sales, regulatory, commercial, and operational areas.
- Document management: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, NDAs, and other agreements aligned with company standards and business objectives.
- Regulatory support: Advise on compliance with regulations from COFEPRIS and other authorities; coordinate or support audits, inspections, and filings when necessary.
- Stakeholder communication: Translate legal complexity into concise, actionable guidance; keep management properly informed of material risks and developments.
- Privacy & digital regulations: Support compliance on data privacy, cybersecurity, and emerging laws such as AI and digital platforms.
- Initiative & process improvement: Identify opportunities to improve legal workflows, contract templates, and process efficiency.
- External counsel management: Engage and supervise outside counsel when required, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with company priorities.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work in agile, cross-market teams to support regional and global projects when needed.
About You
- Licensed lawyer in Mexico with 5–8 years of professional experience (mix of law firm and in-house preferred).
- Strong grounding in commercial and regulatory law; experience in highly regulated industries (pharmaceuticals, tobacco, alcohol, food, cosmetics, or medical devices) is a plus.
- Fluent English with excellent communication and drafting skills.
- High level of autonomy, ownership, and initiative; you manage matters proactively with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated sense of urgency, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable interacting directly with business teams and management.
- Curious and eager to learn; brings ideas to improve processes and anticipate risks.
- Team-oriented and adaptable in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
