The PDI Technician is responsible for conducting Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) on all new vehicles prior to customer handover, ensuring each unit is delivered in flawless mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic condition.
The role serves as the final quality gate before customer delivery and directly impacts brand reputation, customer satisfaction, NPS, and warranty claim prevention at the point of handover. The PDI Technician operates under strict OEM checklists, zero-defect standards, and dealership delivery timelines to ensure every vehicle meets manufacturer and customer expectations before release.
By maintaining delivery quality and preventing post-handover issues, the PDI Technician plays a critical role in protecting both customer trust and dealership operational performance.
• Perform comprehensive Pre-Delivery Inspections on all new vehicles in line with OEM-defined check sheets, delivery standards, and dealership processes
• Verify mechanical systems, electrical functions, fluid levels, battery health, software status, and cosmetic condition before release for delivery
• Inspect body panels, paint condition, interior trim, lighting systems, tyres, and all factory-fitted equipment to ensure zero visible defects
• Activate, configure, and update vehicle systems including infotainment, telematics, connected services, and OEM software updates where required
• Identify and document transit damage, manufacturing defects, missing components, or quality issues prior to vehicle handover
• Perform minor rectifications immediately where possible and escalate major technical or cosmetic issues to the Workshop Supervisor for resolution
• Coordinate with Body Shop, Polisher, Parts, and Accessories teams to ensure complete rectification before final delivery approval
• Ensure all corrective actions are completed within agreed timelines to avoid delivery delays and customer dissatisfaction
• Install approved accessories and dealer-fit options in accordance with OEM standards and dealership quality requirements
• Verify correct fitment, functionality, and final appearance of all installed accessories before release
• Conduct final road tests where required and confirm valet readiness, fuel level, EV charging status, and delivery presentation standards
• Prepare the vehicle for final handover and release it to the Sales or Handover team with full documentation completion
• Maintain accurate PDI records, defect logs, accessory installation reports, and rectification history within the Dealer Management System (DMS)
• Ensure compliance with OEM warranty policies, transit damage procedures, stockyard controls, and pre-delivery audit requirements
• Follow all workshop safety procedures, PPE usage standards, housekeeping expectations, and HSE compliance protocols
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to delivery quality, defect prevention, and operational efficiency within PDI operations
• Automotive Diploma, Vocational Certificate, or equivalent technical qualification
• OEM PDI certification or manufacturer technical training is highly preferred
• Minimum 2–4 years of workshop, PDI, or vehicle preparation experience within a franchised automotive dealership environment
• Previous hands-on exposure to new vehicle delivery preparation and OEM PDI processes is strongly preferred
• Experience with passenger vehicles, premium brands, or EV delivery preparation is considered an advantage
• Strong mechanical and electrical understanding sufficient to verify factory condition and delivery readiness
• Familiarity with OEM diagnostic tools and systems for software updates, configuration, and system activation
• Ability to interpret PDI check sheets, accessory fitment guides, OEM bulletins, and technical service procedures
• Basic working knowledge of DMS platforms for job booking, accessory requests, and defect reporting
• Awareness of EV-specific PDI requirements including battery charge level, HV safety checks, and software validation
