Your Role
As a Specialist Anterior Segment Ophthalmologist, you will:
- Provide comprehensive specialist-level care in Ophthalmology, with a focus on anterior segment diseases and surgery (cornea, lens, anterior chamber, iris)
- Diagnose and manage conditions such as cataracts, corneal disorders (keratoconus, dystrophies, infections), and anterior uveitis
- Perform vision testing, prescribe glasses/contact lenses, and conduct anterior segment surgeries (e.g., cataract extraction, corneal transplantation, pterygium excision, intraocular lens implantation)
- Manage outpatient and emergency eye clinics, including pre- and post-operative care for anterior segment procedures
- Prescribe and administer medications, interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., corneal topography, anterior segment OCT), and maintain accurate medical records
- Counsel patients on treatment options, medications, and preventive eye care
- Participate in clinical audits, CME, and quality improvement initiatives
- Engage in research and educational activities within the department
- Collaborate with patients, families, medical staff, and referring doctors to ensure continuity of care
Ideal Candidate Profile
- DHA-licensed Specialist in Ophthalmology, with subspecialty expertise in anterior segment surgery
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing); Arabic is an advantage
- Minimum 5+ years of specialist-level experience post-qualification, including significant anterior segment surgical experience
- Skilled in all aspects of anterior segment Ophthalmology, with a patient-first mindset
- Confident in building a patient base or bringing an existing following
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and committed to clinical excellence
- Certification in Basic and Advanced Life Support
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals are highly regarded
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- MBBS or MBChB or equivalent from an accredited institution
- Completion of specialty qualification recognized by DHA, HAAD, or MOH UAE
- Excellent communication and computer literacy skills
